Linda Hughes Groover

Linda Hughes Groover, age 64, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Linda was born on May 8, 1961, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Billy Hughes and Josephine Price Hughes. Linda was adored by her three siblings.

Linda was first and foremost a devoted mother to her beloved son, Blake Alford, who was the center of her world and her greatest joy. She and Blake shared a loving relationship, a bond filled with laughter, an unconditional love that brought her immense joy and pride. They shared many memories and special moments at the beach, Charlestowne Landing, and James Island County Park. Her love for him was fierce, unwavering, and evident in everything she did.

Linda met Frank Groover in 1982, and the two quickly became close friends. Later in life, their bond grew into a loving marriage and together they opened and operated a successful business. Linda joyfully and lovingly welcomed Frank’s children, Micheal Groover, Suzanne Groover, and Logan Bishop, embracing them as her own. She treasured her big family and took great pride in the bonds she helped create and nurture.

Linda and Frank worked side by side in the dental industry, where Linda built a successful career that culminated in her role as Vice President of Dental Laboratory Associates, Inc., a position she held with pride and dedication.

Linda loved making memories with those who lifted her spirits. She found peace and joy at the beach, spending time there with friends and family. She also enjoyed letting loose and taking a chance or two at the casino on memorable trips to Cherokee Harrah’s Casino and Las Vegas with Blake and all the girls.

Linda will be remembered for her presence, her kindness, and the lasting impact she had on those around her. That selflessness and compassion were the core of her spirit.

She is preceded in death by her father Billy Hughes and mother Josephine Hughes, maternal grandparents Saffold and Evelyn Tapley Price, paternal grandparents Mark Hughes and Hattie Harrell Hughes and nephew Bradley Manuel.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Groover; her son Blake Alford (Kathleen House), step daughter Suzanne Groover, step son Micheal Groover and children; Logan Bishop (Maren and children); her brother Joel C. Manuel (son Jody (and children), daughter Amy Tiomkin (Eitan and children), daughter Ashley Barnett (Lance and children)); sister Brenda DeLotell (son Christopher Stringer (Shelley and children); sister Mary Vandiver (Harmon and daughter Nickie Vandiver Underwood (and children)); and a large extended family of loved ones and friends.

A woman of strength, generosity, and a vibrant spirit, Linda will be deeply missed every day. Her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to share their sincerest gratitude to those that cared for Linda in her last days, including the wonderful Family Hospice team of Charleston, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
